What Is Accreditation?
Accreditation is a national system for assessing quality in health services organizations. It is a voluntary peer review program wherein Royal Terrace is compared to other long term care facilities using a tailored set of standards. These standards are created by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC). All long term care facilities in Ontario must adhere to these requirements in order to maintain accreditation status and licensing.
At Royal Terrace we aim for excellence in providing competent, quality care. We have always attained a maximum accreditation award through the Canadian Council for Health Accreditation Association (CCHSA), the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for the Long Term Care home, and through the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) for the Retirement home.
From the first time Royal Terrace participated in this invaluable quality improvement program, our staff are always looking for ways to go beyond the care standards to make Royal Terrace "A Facility of Choice to Call Home".
The staff is always very helpful, pleasant and kind. If you are unable to look after yourself and need care this is the place to be. Lots of nourishment and you’ll never leave a meal hungry. There are lots of programs such as outings, entertainment and good exercise classes to keep you busy. The place is kept very clean. I consider this my home. I enjoy going out but I am always glad to come back!
When I first moved to Royal terrace it was doubtful that I would ever walk again but with the encouragement and help of the staff and therapists I am now able to walk with the assistance of a walker. It was very difficult to give up my home but with the love and care I receive from the staff at Royal Terrace I feel that this is now my home. I have made so many friends and am very happy here! I.
